Winter is finally here, and for ski and snowboard enthusiasts, that means it’s time to hit the slopes. With record-breaking storms throughout December and January, there’s no shortage of fresh powder at the most popular California ski resorts. We’ve provided an overview of some of the best ski resorts California has to offer this winter. Of course, we also provide recommendations on the best cannabis products to enjoy aprės ski.

Mammoth Mountain

This massive ski resort is often regarded as the best place to go skiing or snowboarding in California. Mammoth Mountain is located in northeastern California, and while it’s not near any major cities, it’s worth the extra drive. There’s a huge network of trails for all ability levels, so whether you’re just learning or ready to tackle some more extreme adventures, you’ll have plenty of places to ride. There’s also a halfpipe and plenty of freestyle terrain for those that like a little more adventure. They also offer a variety of other activities, including cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, tubing, and more.

Big Bear

Big Bear Mountain Resort is conveniently located just two hours east of Los Angeles and is a perfect destination for those looking for a quick winter retreat and to get some time on their board or skis. The resort has two mountains to choose from with a large network of trails. If you’re just starting out, they have plenty of beginner trails on Snow Summit as well as ski and snowboard lessons. If you’re more advanced, head to Bear Mountain to check out more challenging trails or hit the halfpipe.

Lake Tahoe

The Lake Tahoe area is located on the border of California and Nevada and is home to plenty of excellent ski resorts. These include Palisades Tahoe, which hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics, as well as Heavenly Mountain Resort and Sierra-at-Tahoe. Sugar Bowl Resort, located roughly 30 miles outside of Tahoe, is also a popular spot for skiing and snowboarding in California. Because Lake Tahoe is such a popular destination, there’s plenty of restaurants, breweries, spas, and other fun things to do after you’re done riding for the day.

Mountain High

Located just 90 minutes from Los Angeles, Mountain High Resort is a great place for city dwellers to learn to ski or snowboard. While this resort isn’t as big as many of the others on this list, it has plenty of fun trails to tackle, and it’s hard to beat the convenient location. Mountain High is perfect for a skiing day trip, but there are also plenty of lodging options nearby for longer trips.

Badger Pass

This small ski resort is located near Yosemite National Park and is about four hours away from San Francisco, making Badger Pass an accessible alternative to the resorts in Lake Tahoe. Although the resort is small, there are trails for all difficulty levels, a terrain park, cross-country and backcountry skiing, and more.
